Are you eligible for the H1N1 vaccine?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends conditions be placed on those who can be vaccinated first against H1N1 flu.
Bellin Health is now vaccinating those patients who are the most vulnerable to the H1N1 virus, including:

  • Pregnant women
  • Persons who live with or provide care for infants age 6 months or younger (examples: parents, siblings, daycare providers)
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material
  • Children aged 6 months-4 years
  • Children and adolescents aged 5-18 years who have chronic medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications

Please call (920) 445-7313 or call your regular Bellin Health Family Medical Center to schedule an appointment. Vaccine supplies are limited and will be dispensed by appointment only and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Does Bellin Health Have H1N1 Vaccine?
H1N1
Friday, October 09, 2009 03:40 PM

Bellin Health does not have doses of H1N1 vaccine for the general public yet, but it did recently receive its supply for health care employees.

The decision to first vaccinate health care employees is part of the state’s overall vaccination plan that was created according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

The state’s vaccine distribution plan will be divided into three phases:

  • Phase I: Limited supply focused toward vaccinating pregnant women, health care and emergency medical services personnel and if supply allows, family members of children less than six months of age
  • Phase II: Larger supply focused primarily on public health efforts and private care providers to vaccinate remainder of targeted populations
  • Phase III: Ongoing weekly supply focused on vaccinating remainder of targeted population as well as non-targeted individuals

Bellin’s first doses of H1N1 vaccine were received late Thursday evening. The health system could begin administering the vaccine to its employees by as early as next week.

“If you are not within the first wave of those scheduled for H1N1 vaccination, don’t worry,” said Lois Van Abel of Bellin Medical Group. “The CDC continues to assure us that everyone who desires to be vaccinated against H1N1 will have the opportunity.”
